New Yorker 100th Anniversary Poster 2025

In summer 2025, NewYorker magazine reached out with a call out to contribute to their 100th anniversary. The task was to draw the number “100” in a creative, simple way.

I am amongst 100 artists that have created work for the poster.

The poster designed by New Yorker staff, featuring all 100 drawings.

First round of ideas saw some different avenues from my bank of languages…

Soon, I saw an opportunity to work in my characters from Mint. Perhaps with a musical element…

More explorations of my characters, however their designs were too cartoonish and distracted from the “100” structure.

Eventually I had to accept the piece needed a new set of characters that adhered to the numbers. A spiky punk and two beatnik skinheads came to life.

My addition to the poster… three rascals.
